Do not sack our People, Kidero tells Uhuru

KideroNairobi governor Dr. Evans Kidero has pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta not to sack the chiefs of state firms and board members who hails from the Luo Nyanza region. This follows the sacking of Tom Odongo who was at the helm of the National Social Security Funds which manages billions of shillings. Tom Odongo was sent packing in unclear circumstances a week ago and a bunch of others are believed to be in line. The sacking letter was leaked by Labour Secretary, Mr. Kazungu Kambi to the press but did not state clearly the basis of the sacking.  Mr. Odongo has since moved to court.

After the sacking of Tom Odongo, the flamboyant board member of the NSSF, Fred Rabong’o , who also hails from the Luo community was dismissed. Other professionals from the Luo Nyanza who were set to be sent packing include Petronilla Ogutu. Had it not been for the intervention of Kidero, Ms. Ogutu could now be very far from National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation’s offices where she serves as the managing director. It is revealed that Kidero’s plea with the president made her to obtain a reprieve of six months.
